EmpowerU is an educational service and digital platform (collectively, “EmpowerU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users’ personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our websites or use the EmpowerU application, digital platform, educational coursework, self-reflection activities, surveys, progress-tracking tools, reporting features, technical support, and related educational and support services (collectively, the “Services”), which include:

By using the Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites, services, or practices of companies that we do not own or control, or to individuals we do not employ or manage.
EmpowerU works with school districts, schools, institutions, and other educational organizations (each, an “Organization”) to provide educational services to students and other participants enrolled or authorized by those Organizations (each, a “Participant”). EmpowerU may also provide access to parents, guardians, educators, administrators, and other authorized adult users. EmpowerU generally provides student-facing Services under the direction and control of the applicable Organization.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us or that an Organization provides to us when you or an Organization:
- Create or manage an account
- Purchase or subscribe to the Services
- Register for training, a webinar, or another event
- Subscribe to newsletters or program updates
- Complete coursework, self-reflection activities, surveys, or progress checks
- Contact us by email or other communication methods
- Enroll a Participant or assign coursework
- Request technical or customer support
This information may include your name, email address, school or district affiliation, postal address, phone number, payment information, account credentials, and communications with EmpowerU or the applicable Organization. When using our educational platform or training tools, we may collect information regarding usage, engagement, assigned coursework, responses, progress, outcomes, and support requests.
Organization-Provided Student Information. Organizations determine the student information they provide to EmpowerU. Depending on the implementation, this information may include a student’s name, date of birth, student identification number or other unique identifier, grade level, gender, school, class or program participation, assigned coursework, engagement information, and progress data. EmpowerU processes this information on behalf of the Organization and in accordance with the Organization’s instructions and applicable contractual requirements.
Participant-Provided Information. Participants may provide information directly through the platform by completing coursework, self-reflection activities, surveys, or other educational content, or by communicating with the Organization or EmpowerU for assistance.
Adult User Information. We may collect information from parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, and other adult users. Adults may also participate in professional development, training, or educational modules, in which case we collect information they provide through those activities.
We may also collect non-personal or device and usage information such as browser type, operating system, IP address, domain name, access time, referring website address, and other usage data through cookies and analytics tools.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and manage access to the Services
- Process transactions and manage accounts
- Respond to inquiries and provide technical or customer support
- Send newsletters and program updates, where permitted and with any required consent
- Improve the quality and effectiveness of our educational resources, platform, and support services
- Deliver assigned coursework, educational support, and related services
- Track engagement, progress, outcomes, and program effectiveness
- Comply with legal, contractual, security, and operational requirements
We do not use student information for behavioral advertising, commercial profiling, or unrelated commercial purposes. We do not sell student information nor do we share it with third parties for non-educational purposes.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.
We may share information:
- With our parent companies, FullBloom and Catapult Learning, for operational, administrative, integration, support, security, or compliance purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy. Those entities are subject to confidentiality and data-protection obligations and may not use personal information for unrelated purposes.
- With service providers that support our operations, such as hosting, analytics, communications, customer support, and payment processing, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- When required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of EmpowerU, Catapult Learning, FullBloom, our users, or others, including lawful disclosures when a user indicates a risk of self-harm or harm to another person.
- To enforce our agreements, policies, and terms of use.
- In an emergency when disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the personal safety of any person.
We may also transfer personal information in connection with a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, financing, sale, or other transfer of some or all of our business or assets. Any successor or transferee will be required to continue to protect personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy or under privacy and security obligations that are at least as protective.
4. Student and Child Data
The Services are designed for use by educators, schools, and other Organizations. In some cases, the Services may involve personal information about children under the age of 13, solely for educational purposes and with appropriate authorization or consent from a school or parent, as applicable.
- We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), where applicable.
- Before collecting personal information from a child under 13, we require verifiable parental or school authorization, as applicable.
- We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the educational Services.
- Student and child information is not used for behavioral advertising, commercial profiling, or unrelated commercial purposes, and is not sold nor is it shared for non-educational purposes.
- In school settings, EmpowerU relies on the Organization to obtain any required parental consent or authorization. When a teacher, school administrator, or other authorized school representative provides student information, we rely on that person’s authority to act for the Organization and, where permitted by law, on behalf of a parent or guardian.
- Organizations may review, correct, delete, or request cessation of further use of student information by contacting EmpowerU.
- Parents and guardians seeking to review, correct, delete, or restrict further collection or use of student information should generally contact the applicable Organization. EmpowerU is not ordinarily authorized to respond independently with respect to Organization-controlled records, but we will cooperate with the Organization in responding to the request.
For purposes of student information provided and controlled by an Organization, EmpowerU acts as a service provider and school official and processes the information only on behalf of, and subject to the direction of, the Organization. The Organization determines the purposes for which student information is provided and remains responsible for its own legal obligations concerning notice, consent, access, and record maintenance.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You may opt out of receiving marketing communications from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in our emails or by contacting us at info@empoweru.education.
Subject to applicable law and contractual limitations, you may also:
- Request access to personal information that we control about you
- Request correction of inaccuracies in your information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Request that we restrict or cease certain uses of your personal information

6. California Privacy Rights (CCPA Notice)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (CCPA), may provide you with specific rights regarding your personal information. Subject to applicable limitations and exceptions, you may have the right to:
- Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect about you
- Know the categories of sources, purposes of collection, and categories of recipients with whom information is shared
- Request deletion of personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (Note: EmpowerU does not sell personal information and does not share student information for cross-context behavioral advertising)
- Be free from unlawful discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Requests concerning student information maintained on behalf of an Organization should generally be submitted to the Organization.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Services may be used in educational settings involving children under the age of 13. We collect personal information from children only as necessary to provide the Services and only with verifiable parental or school authorization in compliance with COPPA and other applicable law.
8. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction, loss, or misuse. We encrypt information in transit and at rest where appropriate. Access to student information is limited to personnel and service providers who require access to perform the Services and who are subject to confidentiality obligations. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide the Services and comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, reporting, contractual, and security requirements. Retention periods may vary depending on the nature and sensitivity of the information and the purposes for which it is used. When personal information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it, unless retention is required or permitted by law.
For student and child information, we retain information only as long as necessary to support the educational Services for which the information was provided and as directed by the applicable Organization. Upon request from an Organization, or following the conclusion or termination of Services, we will securely delete or return student information in accordance with applicable contractual requirements, record-retention obligations, and law. Where appropriate and authorized, we may retain de-identified or anonymized information that cannot reasonably be used to identify an individual.
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience, remember preferences, maintain and improve the Services, analyze site traffic, and understand how the Services are used. Cookies are small data files stored on your device. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may limit certain features of the Services.
We may use third-party analytics providers, including Google Analytics, to help us understand use of our websites and Services. These providers may collect device and usage information in accordance with their own privacy practices. Browser-based tools and settings may be available to limit analytics collection.
11. International Data Transfers
If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, please note that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where our servers and central databases are located.
